Sports Fiend Confesses

Baseball: the Indians seem determined to lose their chance of going to the post-season and probably will finish themselves off tomorrow. Oh well, at least there's football. The Niners may actually win tomorrow since they are playing the Arizona Cardinals who are even worse than they are.

What's of interest about the Niners game is that it's being played in Mexico City, the first regular-season game to be played out of the US. The NFL is serious about becoming international, and Mexico would be the logical place to put a new team. (Canada already has their own league and their own rules.) Estadio Azteca seats over 100,000 people. I spent my youth in a town of 40,000, and it's rather odd to consider that the population of said town could fit into that stadium two and a half times over.

And the hockey season will actually occur this year!

The thought of the Alcapulco Aztecs makes one shudder.

Wow, an American sport that actually wants to be international (instead of just deciding that We are the Whole World).

I am just a wee bit worried about the altitude. I hate to think of all of those headaches.

So much for optimism. Gods, the Niners looked awful! I had moments of wanting to sacrifice Tim Ratty to Tloc. Coach Nolan may beat me to it, though.
